They're Closer Than You Think!

Ouija Boards

The Ouija Board has been around since the time of the Romans in the fourth century. It is also thought to have been used by the Greeks since before the birth of Christ.

Ouija boards can be numbers and letters placed in a circle around the table, or a professionally made board with the letters of the alphabet inscribed on it, along with words such as 'yes,' 'no,' 'good-bye' and 'maybe.'

The modern Ouija Board began as a combination of mainly two tools used for scrying. The first was a wheel made up of the letters of the alphabet. The second was a glass, usually a wine glass which is inverted and placed in the middle.

A planchette (As in picture below) or pointer of some sort is manipulated by those using the board. The users then ask the board a question and the planchette should move around the board giving answers to what is being asked.

The Ouija board was first introduced to the American public in 1891 and the patent was granted to Elijah J Bond on the first modern Ouija Board. The following year the rights were purchased by William Fuld. In 1966 the Parker Brothers purchased the rights to the Ouija Board and shifted its manufacturing facilities to Salem, Massachusetts. The Ouija Board ended up outselling the game of Monopoly in its first full year at Salem. Over two million copies of the Ouija Board were shipped world wide and are still on sale today in shops and via the internet.

The layout of the Ouija Board seems to vary from country to country and production companies, but the original design is said to still be the most popular one as seen in the picture above.

Although they are usually sold in the novelty or game section of stores, many people swear that there is something occult about them, which by using one you could release malevolent spirits, particularly when the board is used by the inexperienced.

Many people feel that Ouija Boards are dangerous to use. It depends on who uses them and the entities they attract. Dysfunctional people will attract dysfunctional entities and should never use a Ouija board or channel in any way.

It is strongly advised that you never use a Ouija board unless you know exactly what you are doing, many inexperienced and unprofessional people use this form of contact to make money out of unsuspecting people and don’t have the understanding of what they could be releasing.

This is not a form of communication you should consider lightly and only ever do it with some-one who knows exactly what they are doing, always be careful because there are many people who claim to be physically in tune, yet don’t even open and close the board safely.

The Haunted Yorkshire team never use these as a form of communication when conducting an investigation and suggest that the inexperienced user shouldn't try either.
